Obituary

Marlene Brandenburg

(Nee Pumpian) Passed away May 15, 2018 at the age of 80.

Beloved wife of the late Werner Brandenburg. Dear mother of Victoria Strohfeldt, Danielle (John) Kowalski, Lesley (Ben) Vogel and Adam (fiance of Tams Remm) Brandenburg. Loving grandmother of Bridget, Courtney, Christina, McKenna, Carter, Crosbie, Griffin, Jack, Elijah, Preston, Eleanor, Audrey, Cale, Truman, Christian, Gabe and Asa. Dear sister of Gene (Marlene) Paige. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and many dear friends.

A service in honor of Marlene’s memory will be held on Friday, May 18th at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of your choice appreciated.

Marlene was a life-long resident of Shorewood, WI (not including her time spent at UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee), and a proud graduate of Shorewood High School. Throughout her life, Marlene found many ways to share her love for the arts with others, including her own children and grandchildren, as well as the many children she positively affected during her years as a camp counselor at the local Girl Scout Camp. Marlene was lucky to have a wonderful, close-knit group of special friends who referred to themselves as the Ya-Ya Sisterhood and knew each other for most of their lives. Marlene and Werner both hit the jackpot when they found each other at the UW-Milwaukee Union. Werner was conspicuously dressed like a cigarette girl as part of a fraternity prank and proceeded to ask Marlene out on a date. The costume obviously did the trick…All these years later, Marlene will be remembered by her family and friends as a fun-loving, free-spirited, amazing wife and mother. Marlene, you will be missed dearly by all who knew you.

My heartfelt condolences to the entire Brandenburg family. While I personally didn’t know Marlene very well, I’ve known Lesley & Adam for close to 30 years and the outstanding adults they have become speaks volumes of their mother. RIP Marlene
